Before Working in Oman, Don’t Forget These Tips!

If you are considering working in Oman, don’t rush!

We invited Mr. Mohammad Mehdi Motiei Rad, a legal consultant and civil and commercial arbitrator in Oman, to answer your questions about important tips before employment in this country.

Before you apply for a work visa, know these important points:

1. Contract Before Visa, Why?

Before your visa is issued, make sure to sign a contract with the company that will be your employer. This is crucial because after the visa is issued, it signifies that you have entered into an employment contract. If your salary is not specified in this contract, the employer may not agree to your desired salary after the visa is issued. In this case, you cannot unilaterally terminate the employment contract, as you will be recognized as an employee of that company in the police systems, and you need the employer’s consent to change jobs.

2. How to Ensure the Company’s Credibility?

Ensure you know who the managers of the company you are negotiating with are. Is the person you are negotiating with an authorized manager who can sign the contract? You can visit the Sands Registry or check the website www.business.gov.om. By entering the company name and serial number, you can access all information about the company, including the names of the managers, their authority levels, and management style.

If you have a friend who plans to immigrate to Oman through a work visa, share these tips with them to prevent future problems!
