When we migrate, it’s natural to become engrossed in managing the various aspects of life in a new country. However, once we settle down and start to organize our lives—whether alone or with family—we often confront a new challenge that we may not have considered before: loneliness.
In our home country, we regularly visit our parents or relatives, or they come to our homes. We gather with friends, engage in casual conversations, or join them at work if they run their own businesses. We frequent bustling cafes or coffee houses, watch football matches in stadiums, go to the gym, swim, and enjoy parks and nature.
But after migrating, we suddenly find ourselves in a different reality, where the heavy shadow of loneliness becomes evident. Now, we need to fill the void left by these familiar social activities, either alone or with family.
Connecting with new cultures can be challenging; often, they may lack the warmth and familiarity we are accustomed to, making us feel as though we are in a different world—one that seems distant from our previous lives. As a result, feelings of isolation, depression, and anxiety can set in.
In light of this, if you have recently moved to Oman, finding leisure activities becomes a more serious concern that differs from other countries. We would like to share our experiences regarding leisure activities in Oman, which may prove useful to you.
