Companies violating Oman’s midday work ban to face fines up to RO 1000

The Ministry of Labour in Oman has announced that starting from June 1, a midday work ban will be enforced at construction sites and open areas with high temperatures.

In an online notice, the Ministry warned business owners to adhere to the midday break policy during the hot summer months, indicating that violators will face substantial fines.

According to these regulations, work is prohibited from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. from June to August to ensure the safety and well-being of workers exposed to high temperatures.

The Ministry also stated that those violating the directive will face administrative penalties ranging from a minimum fine of OMR 500 to a maximum of OMR 1,000.

This midday work ban aims to protect workers from the extreme summer heat, which poses significant health risks. The Ministry emphasized the importance of compliance with these regulations and urged all businesses to implement necessary measures to safeguard their employees during the specified hours.
