The National Aluminium Products Company (Napco) and Oman Aluminium Cast Company have signed a significant agreement aimed at enhancing local content and supporting Oman’s industrial sector. Facilitated by Madayn (Public Establishment for Industrial Estates), this partnership underscores Oman’s commitment to fostering economic development and industrial self-reliance.

New Material for Advanced Manufacturing

Under this agreement, Oman Aluminium Cast will supply Napco with a newly developed raw material that has passed stringent qualification tests. The raw metal is sourced from Sohar Aluminium, and Oman Aluminium Cast processes it into billets, which serve as the primary material for Napco’s production of aluminium profiles. These profiles cater to both local and global markets.

Boosting Local Industries and Employment

This agreement highlights the importance of collaboration between Omani companies to bolster the national economy. Eng Dawood bin Salim Al Hadabi, CEO of Madayn, emphasized that the partnership:

  • Strengthens the national economy.
  • Enhances local industries.
  • Improves the global competitiveness of Omani products.

Moreover, it creates local employment opportunities and solidifies Oman’s position as a regional leader in the aluminium industry.

Aligning with Oman Vision 2040

Eng Abdullah Al Mayasi, Director General of Sohar Industrial City, stated that the agreement reflects both companies’ commitment to integration and aligns with Oman Vision 2040, emphasizing the role of local products in driving the national economy.

Advancing the Aluminium Economic Cluster

This agreement is part of broader efforts led by the Integrated Aluminium Economic Cluster Team in Sohar Industrial City. Overseen by:

  • Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ).
  • Madayn.
  • National Programme for Economic Diversification (Tanwee).
  • National Programme for Private Sector and Foreign Trade Development (Nazdaher).
  • Industrial Innovation Academy.

The cluster aims to establish Oman as a global hub for aluminium production, attract investments, and advance manufacturing industries with cutting-edge technologies.

Key Impacts

  • Supply Chain Efficiency: Oman Aluminium Cast processes raw metal from Sohar Aluminium into billets, which Napco uses for aluminium profile production.
  • Economic Growth: The partnership supports local industries, generates employment, and aligns with Oman Vision 2040.
  • Industrial Leadership: With strategic collaborations, Oman strengthens its global competitiveness in the aluminium sector.
