Oman Secures the Release of Galaxy Leader Crew

The Sultanate of Oman has successfully facilitated the release of the Galaxy Leader ship’s crew, comprising 25 individuals from five nationalities (the Philippines, Bulgaria, Mexico, Ukraine, and Romania). The crew was transported to Muscat aboard a Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft, marking the end of a significant humanitarian mission. The crew is now preparing to return to their home countries.

In an official statement, Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its gratitude to all parties in Yemen whose cooperation was instrumental in facilitating this humanitarian initiative.

“We are happy to confirm the release of the crew of Galaxy Leader and their safe arrival in Oman. We thank everyone, both in Yemen and elsewhere, who helped make this happen. • Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, commended Oman’s relentless efforts, describing the release as a positive step toward creating an environment conducive to peace in Yemen.
• Florin Marius Tacu, Romania’s Ambassador to Oman, expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the Omani government for their exceptional humanitarian efforts.
• Anibal Gomez Toledo, Mexico’s Ambassador to Oman, acknowledged Oman’s dedication to humanitarian initiatives and its vital role in the crew’s release.

• Lyubomir Chanev, the Bulgarian captain of Galaxy Leader, thanked Oman for its efforts and expressed relief and joy at returning to his homeland after more than a year.
