Oman’s Brilliant Debut at Expo 2025 Osaka Under the Theme “Enduring Ties”

Osaka – Sunday, April 6, 2025 | As Expo 2025 officially opened in Osaka, Japan, the Sultanate of Oman inaugurated its national pavilion in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.

Designed under the theme “Enduring Ties”, the pavilion focuses on three core pillars: People, Land, and Water. Inspired by Oman’s diverse landscapes and cultural identity, the pavilion was developed as part of the Bilarab bin Haitham Architectural Design Award—a tribute to the creative spirit of Omani youth.

During the opening ceremony, HH Sayyid Theyazin symbolically activated the pavilion by pouring water into a miniature model using a 2,000-year-old Iron Age artifact—a decorated vessel discovered in the ancient wall of Salut, Wilayat of Bahla. The vessel, adorned with fish motifs, reflects Oman’s deep artistic and civilizational heritage.

Oman’s presence at Expo 2025 is centered around six strategic themes:

These themes align with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, aimed at positioning Oman as a regional hub of innovation and dialogue.

Statements from Omani Leaders

Speaking to the Oman News Agency (ONA), HH Sayyid Theyazin emphasized that the pavilion showcases Oman’s authentic identity and opens a window for global cultural dialogue.

“Oman’s participation in this global event reaffirms our commitment to cultural exchange, international cooperation, and building a better future for all,” he said.

Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Commissioner-General of Oman’s Pavilion, confirmed that Oman was the eighth country to receive final approval to open its pavilion. He noted the pavilion’s agenda includes over 33 events over the next six months.

Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Busaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to Japan, and Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the significance of this event in strengthening economic and cultural ties with Japan. Trade between Oman and Japan grew by 7% in 2024, they noted.

The ceremony was attended by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Prince Badr bin Abdullah Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Culture, as well as a delegation of Omani CEOs, business leaders, and Japanese officials.
