Sharp Rise in Oman’s Hotel Revenues as Guests Surge by 9.3%

According to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), revenues of 3 to 5-star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman saw a notable increase of 7.9%, reaching OMR 132.3 million by the end of July 2024, compared to OMR 122.6 million during the same period in 2023.

This significant rise in revenue is attributed to a 9.3% surge in the total number of hotel guests, which reached 1,204,426 by the end of July 2024, up from 1,102,314 during the same period last year. Additionally, hotel occupancy rates grew by 2.1%.

Growth in hotel guests by nationality:

• Omani guests increased by 7.7% to reach 445,000.
• Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) guests grew by 0.6% to 101,341.
• Other Arab guests rose by 12.8% to 58,252.
• European guests saw a sharp increase of 18.9% to 308,938.
• Guests from the Americas grew by 4.4% to 34,928.
• African guests increased by 0.9% to 6,469.
• Asian guests rose by 9.9% to 180,739.
• Guests from Oceania dropped by 30.6% to 17,200.

These figures highlight the steady growth of Oman’s hospitality industry, with a surge in the number of guests opting for 3 to 5-star hotels, indicating the country’s increasing appeal as a travel destination.
