Successful Launch of “Duqm-2” Rocket in Oman

Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has officially confirmed the successful launch of the “Duqm-2” rocket from the coastal areas of Al Wusta Governorate. This mission was designed to test Oman’s regulatory and operational framework for space launches, representing the country’s first practical step into national space operations.

The launch utilized two main coastal zones:

• Haitam area in the Wilayat of Duqm
• Al-Kahal area in the Wilayat of Al Jazer

The project aims to prepare Oman’s infrastructure to support orbital and suborbital space startups, both local and international.

Concurrently, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources issued a safety advisory restricting marine activity on 5, 6, 8, and 9 July to ensure the safety of fishermen and sea-goers during the rocket’s flight.

This successful operation marks a milestone in Oman’s journey toward advanced space capabilities, reflecting its ambition to establish a scientific and technological presence in the region.
