Expat Imprisoned and Deported in Muscat for Selling Fake LED Lamps

The court sentenced an expat to three years in prison and permanent deportation for selling counterfeit electrical tools and LED lamps in Muscat.

Case Details

The Consumer Protection Authority, represented by the Commercial Fraud Department, managed to seize these products that were manipulated and marketed as genuine items belonging to well-known brands. This followed intensive efforts in research and investigation, which revealed that the defendants had forged trademarks and provided misleading data to consumers, making them believe the products were original.

The violations also included forging purchase invoices and country of origin documents, attempting to lend credibility to the counterfeit goods and gain illicit profits. A total of 15,418 counterfeit lighting products were seized to bolster consumer protection efforts.
