The Consumer Protection Authority in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate successfully identified and seized three commercial establishments engaged in the storage and distribution of used tires, an act that constitutes a clear violation of consumer protection laws and their executive regulations.

Case Details | Violations in the Sale of Used Tires

This action was taken as part of market monitoring efforts to combat commercial violations and potential threats to consumers. The objective of this operation was to control supplier violations and prevent the distribution of unauthorized goods to protect consumer rights and safety.

The case began with a report from a consumer indicating that some expatriate workers were engaged in selling, repairing, and storing used tires in their warehouses. Following this report, a team was formed for investigation and data collection, which led to the discovery and confiscation of approximately 2,000 used tires stored across six warehouses belonging to the violating establishments.

Legal Actions Taken | Crackdown on Violators

Based on these violations, the Consumer Protection Authority documented the offenses and seized the confiscated tires, pending the necessary legal actions against these establishments. This action was taken in accordance with Decision No. 257/2015, amended by Decision No. 1/2024, which prohibits the distribution and sale of used tires due to safety risks for consumers.

Warning to Traders and Consumers | Regulations for Tire Sales

The authority urges all traders and shop owners to ensure compliance with market regulations for tire sales and to verify that their products meet the required safety and quality standards. Additionally, businesses must adhere to regulatory decisions regarding the withdrawal of unauthorized products from the market.

The Consumer Protection Authority affirmed that it will continue to monitor the markets closely and will take strict legal actions against violators. Consumers are also encouraged to report any violations or unauthorized sales through official communication channels to safeguard their rights and safety.
