Facilitating Visa Issuance for Afghans in Oman, Direct Flights, and Trade Expansion

Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban-led government, paid an official visit to Muscat on Monday, March 10, 2025, where he met with Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. This meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral relations in political, economic, and social fields, with both parties emphasizing the beginning of a new phase of joint cooperation.

The meeting in Muscat included discussions on expanding bilateral relations in various areas, including trade, security, and regional cooperation.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the Acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban highlighted the end of decades of war in Afghanistan, the establishment of balanced relations with the world and the region, and the consolidation of nationwide security as key achievements of the Taliban-led government.

Muttaqi also described Afghanistan’s current situation as a favorable opportunity for foreign investment, particularly for Omani investors and traders. He expressed gratitude to the Omani government for facilitating better operations for the Afghan Embassy in Muscat and acknowledged steps such as:

• Issuing work visas for Afghans
• Facilitating Afghan exports to Oman
• Launching direct flights between the two countries

Omani Officials Welcome Greater Cooperation

Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi welcomed his Afghan counterpart and stated that Oman has long held multiple meetings between the foreign ministries of both countries. He emphasized that these meetings will continue to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation and the implementation of practical measures.
