Historic Surge for Oman Air: 5.8 Million Passengers and Unprecedented Growth in Direct Flights

Oman Air recorded a standout performance in 2025, carrying 5.8 million passengers—an 8% increase compared to 2024 and a 57% rise versus 2022—outpacing the average growth of the global aviation market.

According to official figures, 64% of passengers arrived in the Sultanate of Oman on direct flights, a segment that grew by 34%. Seat occupancy also climbed from 76% in 2024 to 82% in 2025, reflecting improved network management and revenue efficiency.

Over the past year, Oman Air took major strategic steps to expand its network, most notably by joining the oneworld global alliance, granting access to more than 900 international destinations. At the same time, new direct services were launched to Amsterdam, Taif, Singapore, Baghdad, and Copenhagen, with further expansion into European cities planned.

Domestically, capacity on the Muscat–Salalah route increased by 17% in 2025 compared to the previous year, driving a 19% rise in passenger numbers. The airline also launched direct charter flights between Moscow and Salalah, with plans to extend services to additional Russian cities in 2026 and to Europe from 2027.

Estimates suggest these initiatives could attract around 580,000 additional passengers to Salalah by 2030 and contribute more than OMR 320 million to Oman’s tourism sector. Oman Air also confirmed that fixed ticket pricing on the Muscat–Salalah route for Omani citizens will continue year-round.
