Oman National Football Team Hosts South Korea at Sultan Qaboos Stadium Today at 6 PM

Oman’s national football team will face South Korea today in the second round of the final qualifying stage for the 2026 World Cup. The match will take place at 6 PM at Sultan Qaboos Stadium in Bousher. Oman seeks to bounce back after their previous loss against Iraq, the current leader of Group B, and secure three crucial points in this encounter.

Saud bin Badr Al-Amboosaidi, Assistant Director-General of Sports Activities at the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, announced that for the convenience of fans, free drinking water, food trucks, and fan merchandise will be available. Additionally, simple entertainment activities will be held in the stadium area for the attendees.

Oman lost their opening match against Iraq and is now looking to re-enter the competition and increase their chances of qualifying for the World Cup with a win in this vital match. In other group games, Kuwait will host Iraq, and Jordan will play against Palestine.

Oman’s preparations have focused on technical and tactical aspects during training at the main pitch of Sultan Qaboos Stadium, with today’s final training session set to determine the starting lineup and game tactics. South Korea will also train at the same stadium at 6 PM today.

Yurislav Chyhalavy, Oman’s head coach, said in a pre-match press conference: “South Korea is one of the strongest teams in the group, and this game is very important for us. Our goal is to win and make up for the first game’s loss. Respecting the opponent and full concentration from our players are the key factors for success.”

Ali Al-Busaidi, a player for the Omani national team, added: “We are ready for tomorrow’s game and will fight for victory to make up for the loss against Iraq. The support of the fans has always played a big role in our success, and we hope to qualify for the World Cup with their backing.”

Hong Myung-bo, South Korea’s head coach, stated: “The game against Oman will be our first away match in this qualifying stage, and it will undoubtedly be challenging for both teams. However, our goal is to win, and my players are focused on achieving a positive result.”

The match will be officiated by Ma Ning, an international referee from China, with assistance from his fellow countrymen Zhuowu and Xing Zhang, and fourth official Di Wang. The VAR technology will be managed by Fu Ming and his assistant Shen Yinhu.
