The Oman Football Association (OFA) has officially announced the termination of the contract of Czech coach Jaroslav Šilhavý, who was in charge of the Oman national football team. The decision, announced on Thursday, was made by mutual consent.
In an online statement, the OFA expressed its gratitude to Šilhavý for his efforts, stating: “We wish our national team’s current coach all the best in his upcoming coaching journey.”
The announcement follows the recent losses of the Red Warriors in two crucial matches during the AFC Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Meanwhile, the OFA will hold a press conference on Thursday to introduce the national team’s new coach and unveil the upcoming coaching plans for the team.
Only in February this year, the Oman Football Association appointed Šilhavý as the head coach of the national team. The 62-year-old Czech coach replaced Croatian Branko Ivankovic, who was dismissed after the team’s underwhelming performance at the recent AFC Asian Cup in Qatar.
Šilhavý’s contract was initially signed to lead the technical staff of the national team until 2026, with the responsibility of guiding the team through the double qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.
