Muscat – 31 May 2025, According to the latest report from the Central Bank of Oman, the total credit granted by Omani commercial and Islamic banks reached OMR 33.6 billion (approximately USD 87.4 billion) by the end of April 2025, showing a 9% growth compared to the same period last year.

The report states that credit granted to the private sector grew by 7%, reaching OMR 27.8 billion. Most of this credit was provided to non-financial private companies, which held a 46.6% share. Individual borrowers accounted for 44%, while financial companies and other sectors made up 5.6% and 3.7%, respectively.

On the deposits side, the total deposits in the Omani banking sector increased by 9.3%, reaching OMR 32.8 billion. Of this, OMR 21.5 billion belonged to private sector deposits, which saw a 7.1% annual increase. Among these, individuals held the largest share at 50.3%, followed by non-financial companies (30.4%) and financial companies (17%).

These figures reflect a strong and stable growth in Oman’s banking sector, with rising trust in the financial system and improved liquidity flow in the national economy.
