Muscat – May 31, 2025, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals has announced that the country will soon launch its first renewable energy storage project. The initiative is being developed in collaboration with Nama Group and the Authority for Public Services Regulation, and includes both traditional and innovative storage technologies.
The Minister, Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, also revealed that 5 to 6 new renewable energy projects will begin this year, focusing mainly on wind power in the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates. These projects are expected to produce over 2,000 MW of electricity by the end of 2027.
These efforts are part of Oman Vision 2040, aiming for 30% of total electricity generation to come from renewables by 2030, and will support the development of green industries and sustainable energy use.
