Oman’s Royal Camel Racing Festival 2025 Kicks Off Tomorrow in Barka

The Royal Camel Racing Festival 2025 (Kass Al-Sultan) will kick off tomorrow, Sunday, April 7, at the Al-Fulaij Track in Wilayat Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate.

The prestigious event will feature around 1,650 camels from various governorates across Oman, making it one of the largest traditional sporting competitions in the country.

📅 Five-Day Racing Schedule

A total of 77 races will be held over five days for various camel racing categories, with 27 cars, 21 trophies, and generous cash prizes awarded to winners.

🔸 Day 1: 32 races – Ḥijājah category (4 km)
🔸 Day 2: 20 races – Laqāyah category (5 km)
🔸 Day 3: 9 races – Jadāʿ (6 km) + 3 races for human riders (2 km)
🔸 Day 4: 7 races – Thunāyah and Ḥawl categories (8 km)
🔸 Final Day: 6 championship races, with the main Ḥawl race winner receiving the Royal Cup and a luxury car.

Camel racing is deeply rooted in Omani heritage and continues to receive the esteemed support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, as a vital tradition that strengthens national identity and community engagement.

All technical and administrative preparations are complete, with camel owners and enthusiasts eagerly anticipating this thrilling and prestigious event.
